carry overs

A lot of memories in those old posts… fodder for a long time to come, I’m sure. I was ready to let it go, to turn the page, until a childhood friend casually mentioned that it was a good thing I’d archived it. What?? 13 years…….

So much forgotten, the refresh is welcome on a few scores. Recipes, notes, moments: they will begin to filter back in. The peanut butter cookies I’ve been craving! The Starry Messenger! So much more, how could I forget. Time to get my priorities back in order.

In 2012 I see I introduced you to Marley, above left, in a homage to Dickens at age 200. He’s here… unearthed from the heavy box I’d carefully packed and ushering me through a new front door. He’s grumpy as ever. Would not have it any other way.

I’m not sure what about he’s got to be grumpy about, though, as he did appear quite recently in the penultimate episode of the Endeavor series on PBS’s Masterpiece. Did you see? He is totally famous. I knew it the minute we laid eyes on each other. A postscript I’m happy to report. There will be others.

Oh and quickly: the jasmine. It is that time, and so, so reliable. Welcome…

We are all here.
