Whirlwind

And so begins a new year, 2024. A glance over my shoulder seems at times as if a decade slipped by, not just a year. It was packed, busting at the seams. Still fixing this old place… daunting at times, and yet each change it becomes more of a home. Big changes, often invisible, bring the old house long overdue updates and improve the day-to-day. Tiny ones are visible each day yet so ephemeral they quickly recede from memory. Surely that was always this way: straightening out a crooked picture or repositioning a thing on a wall, moving an object to tuck in to the right spot. Then there are the chunks of time which are not so terribly daunting but yield a sense of forward motion- a painted closet floor, a perfectly imperfect row of tile behind the sink, made by an artist friend. The list remains long but now not every glance suggests a worrisome new task. Only some glances do that, and at times it is ok not to look in that direction.

2023 held more focus jewelry, with this improved website and other ventures to explore new connections. Slowly the path unfolds. I’ll aim in 2024 to stay on that path and remember to cultivate not only what possibilities may grow but also to recall the building of a foundation on which possibility defiantly maintains a steady toehold. It is the work of generations and will continue.

There are some empty canvases. Ironically, on New Years day, an old drawing friend handed me 2 small canvas boards ready to go. A nudge from the universe, the time for the figure is coming.

I hope you will see here what the year brings forth.
